YOUTH ADVANCING ENGAGEMENT IN CLIMATE GOVERNANCE
The YECAP Fellowship is a six-month, youth-led regional programme by the Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) that empowers young leaders across Asia and the Pacific to take meaningful climate action. Fellows receive training on climate advocacy, youth engagement, and leadership, while gaining access to capacity building activities, including brown bag sessions, policy consultations, and regional dialogues. Throughout the journey, they scale up local initiatives, engage with youth communities, and represent youth voices in national, regional, and global spaces. Upon completion, Fellows receive an official certificate, recognition for their contributions, and become part of the YECAP alumni network—continuing their journey in a supportive community committed to climate action.

Programme
The YECAP Climate Negotiator Training Programme equips young climate leaders across Asia and the Pacific with the knowledge and skills to navigate international climate negotiations. The training is co-organized by UNFCCC RCC Asia-Pacific and YECAP, implemented by RCC Asia-Pacific in collaboration with YOUNGO, (UNFCCC's Children and Youth Constituency), and regional partners. Through expert-led sessions, participants deepen their understanding of UNFCCC processes, key negotiation topics, and national climate policies, preparing to engage meaningfully in COP discussions and climate decision-making at all levels.

Regional
Youth Parliament on
Climate Action
The Regional Youth Parliament on Climate Action (RYPCA) acknowledges the urgency and recognizes the pivotal role young people can play in climate policy. In its pilot, RYPCA hosts 15 youth leaders, from 12 countries across Asia and the Pacific, with close ties to decision-making spaces including young members of parliament, state assembly or government agency; climate negotiators; members of national or subnational youth parliaments/councils; members of consultative or advisory panels with government entities, and more.

Youth political participation is not just complementary but essential to build and sustain peace at all levels.Despite being often exposed to impacts of violent conflicts, disasters, poverty and inequalities, many young people are contributing to building peace in their communities.  Yet, the importance of meaningful youth engagement in peace and security is often overlooked.  Our goal is to boost young people’s interest, capacity, engagement and active participation in politics, peacebuilding and democratic institutions, ensuring that all youth can play an active role in shaping the policies that affect their daily lives, both now and in the future.

YOUTH TAKING THE STAGE IN CLIMATE DECISION-MAKING
Asia-Pacific
Climate Week
The Asia-Pacific Climate Week (APCW) 2023 was hosted by the Johor State Government and the Government of Malaysia from 13–17 November 2023. As the final Regional Climate Week of the year and the first in-person APCW since 2021, it aimed to build momentum ahead of COP28 and the global stocktake under the Paris Agreement. Organized by UN Climate Change with key global and regional partners, APCW 2023 brought together policymakers, businesses, civil society, and experts to discuss climate solutions across four key tracks: energy and industry; cities and infrastructure; land, ocean, food and water; and societies and economies.
Conference of the Parties (COP)

Each year, youth from across the Asia-Pacific region actively participate in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP), bringing diverse perspectives and demands for climate justice to the global stage. Through YECAP and partners, youth delegates are supported to engage meaningfully in climate negotiations, dialogues, and high-level discussions. YECAP organizes and co-hosts side events, capacity-building sessions, and youth-led consultations, creating space for youth voices to be heard and included in global climate policymaking. With ongoing support, Asia-Pacific youth continue to champion ambitious action and intergenerational equity at the heart of climate solutions.

At the end of the day, be it good or bad, we will inherit this Earth."
