YECAP Climate Action Week Convened Over 360 Young Climate Enthusiasts Across Asia and the Pacific

For peer-to-peer sharing, capacity building sessions throwing light on #Stockholm50, #COP27 and other key opportunities for the youth



“YECAP Climate Action Week” was held from 16-20 March 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (GMT+7), virtually (via Zoom). It was a week-long programme organized by the YECAP Fellows – Zawad, Miya and Rafi, consisting of peer-to-peer sharing, capacity building sessions throwing light on Stockholm+50, COP 27 and other key opportunities for the youth. It served as part of the pre-events for YECAP’s Road to Stockholm+50 Regional Dialogue leading to the Stockholm+50 conference.


Highlights included biodiversity and energy, triple planetary crisis, women-led climate actions, consultation on youth and climate, Movers workshops on SDG 13 and SDG 14 along with panel discussions.


Throughout the week, YECAP Climate Action Week convened over 360 young climate activists and professionals, from backgrounds including Research, Non-Profit, Science-Policy Interface, Policy and other Youth Networks for issues of climate change/biodiversity/energy/oceans/ Minorities, Gender issues, Disabilities, Economy/Finance, Media and others that are relevant to climate change issues.


Practical knowledge, tools and guidance were introduced to youth to take further climate action in locally rooted communities and connect young individuals and communities across Asia and the Pacific, with the following objectives:

  1. Engage in meaningful conversation with experts from fields of sustainable energy, climate change research, impact evaluation;

  2. Address the climate change reality that affects and threatens the futures to young environmental human rights activists;

  3. Bring in diverse perspectives of people from vulnerable communities, including Indigenous peoples;

  4. Introducing the Road to Stockholm+50 Regional Dialogue on Youth Empowerment in Climate Action.

On the final day, YECAP team announced the next key event, "The Road to Stockholm+50: Regional Dialogue on Youth Empowerment in Climate Action". happening on 6-7 April 2022 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (GMT+7), virtually (via Zoom), co-organized by UNDP in partnership with UNEP, OHCHR, UNV, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNFCCC, The British Council, YOUNGO, Movers Programme and 2030 Youth Force.
